North Sheen is mostly 1920s and 1930s bay-fronted terraces on the grid between Sandycombe Road and Manor Road, with the older Manor Grove flats behind and a run of newer blocks nearer the retail park. Those terraces share a habit: painted timber sash boxes, tiled hearths and a small back extension with a flat roof, and all three collect dust in ways a quick hoover never touches. Skirtings in these houses take longer than the bedrooms above them.
Parking is rarely the problem here, which is a relief after a week in W4. Much of North Sheen sits outside a controlled zone, and South Kew next door runs Monday to Friday from 10am to noon, though North Kew is controlled seven days a week until 4.30pm. Manor Circus is the real time cost. Traffic backs up from Chalkers Corner and the A316 through most of the morning, so we set off earlier for TW9 than the distance suggests.

North Sheen questions
Do I need to be there?
No. Plenty of TW9 jobs run on a key collected from the agent on Sheen Road or left in a key safe. We text when we arrive and again when we finish, with photographs of the kitchen and bathroom if you ask for them.
How hard is the water here?
Hard. Thames Water runs around 300 ppm across this part of west London, so kettles fur up and shower screens cloud within a month. We use an acid descaler on glass and chrome, then rinse, because leaving descaler to dry is what gives those white streaks agents love to photograph.
Can you clean a flat that still has furniture in it?
